GSA Contract #GS-07F-0163M
Chico—March 20, 2002—Design
Concepts Boats, California’s leading manufacturer
of all welded aluminum boats, and the General Services
Administration (GSA) have teamed up to expand Design
Concepts Boats direct government purchases. GSA is a
government agency selling thousands of products to different
federal, state and local agencies. With the GSA Contract
Design Concepts Boats is allowed to sell directly to
the end user, “We have many customers who want
our product. With the ability to pick up the phone and
buy directly from our GSA Contract our customers avoid
the bid process and get the boat they want.” said
President and CEO David W. Neff. “This fit’s
very well into the growth plans for the company with
sales already rolling in”.
The process of getting this contract
is extensive and very time consuming. “Not just
anyone gets a GSA Contract. The government wants to
make sure the you are legitimate and are going to take
care of your customers and delivery a good quality product.”
said President and CEO David W. Neff.
Design Concepts Boats serves
boat enthusiasts everywhere by creating a durable high-performance
aluminum welded boat: a West Coast phenomenon that is
quickly spreading North, South and East, nationally
and internationally.
Design Concepts' line includes
eight different models of river, lake, delta, ocean
and patrol boats to choose from, which can then be completely
customized to the boater's needs and requests, and Design
Concepts also specializes in custom-made boats. Design
Concepts has designed and built boats for police and
sheriff departments, universities, municipalities and
professional fishing and tour guides all across America.
Design Concepts Boats originated
in 1978 in Paradise, and has since expanded into a factory
near the Chico municipal Airport Park in Chico. The
57,000 square foot facility serves as the manufacturing
and service facility for Design Concepts Boats.

Presentations made at American
Welding Society meetings
Chico--December 3, 2003--
On Wednesday, November 5, 2003
Ron Rabo, General Manager and Corey Jones, Welding Department
Team Leader, traveled to Berkeley, Ca. to make a presentation
to the local Golden Gate Chapter of the American Welding
Society (AWS). The American Welding Society was founded
in 1919 as a multifaceted, nonprofit organization with
a goal to advance the science, technology and application
of welding and related joining disciplines. From factory
floor to high-rise construction, from military weaponry
to home products, AWS continues to lead the way in supporting
welding education and technology development to ensure
a strong, competitive and exciting way of life for all
Americans.
A well-organized presentation
with pictures allowed the large number of members to
get a better understanding of the techniques used in
the manufacturing of welded aluminum boats. During the
presentation specific questions were taken from the
group and answered by both Ron and Corey. “This
builds on the depth we are creating in the company as
we reach out to organizations such as AWS, allowing
our selves the opportunity to gain new information from
other professionals in the (welding) trade” said
David W. Neff, CEO and President. “You can never
be so proud that you limit your self the experience
of letting others in your professional arena take part
in your processes. A lot can be gained from that experience.”

Product Development Team pushes to new level
Chico--January 13, 2002-- Introduced on Wednesday, January
13, 2002 at the Sacramento International Sportsman’s
Expo was the much-anticipated Mid Engine riverboat.
The product development team worked during the summer
of 2001 designing a mid engine boat where the engine
was moved forward allowing unrestricted room between
the engine and the transom. With an extended drive shaft
and relocation of the fuel cells Design Concepts Boats
was able to introduce a completely unique and revolutionizing
product. “It was exciting to see the expression
on people’s face when they walked by the booth.
There was no other boat at the show like it” Said
David W. Neff, CEO and President.
“The main goal was room
at the back of the boat. It seems when you are fighting
fish you always end up at the back of the boat. Landing
fish out of this boat is a complete dream” Said
David W. Neff, CEO and President. Opening up the back
of the boat allows fisherman to fight fish all the way
around the engine with out having to jump over the engine
box as is common in most rear engine mounted boats.
Performance is also increased with a quicker hole shot,
lower planning speed and better handling in tight turns
since the weight of the engine is moved closer the center
line.
